Sensor Network Integration

Emerging sensor network technologies are expected to substantially augment applications such as environmental monitoring, healthcare, and home/commercial automation. By nature, sensor networks will be highly customized for specific applications using optimized protocols and data formats. As sensor networks become more pervasive, the challenge will be to give applications the ability to exploit the full utility of sensor networks without being burdened with sensor level data.

PADRES effectively decouples intra-network and inter-network protocols, allowing pervasive applications to share data between heterogeneous sensor networks. These sensor networks are exposed to PADRES using service oriented interfaces to facilitate integration of sensor data using the publish/subscribe paradigm.
